Who you are dealing with
I’m Torbin Chambers, and Pail Painting is my business. I picked up a brush five years ago, set things up properly in 2023, and I’ve kept it small and close to home ever since. When you ring, you get me. I come and look at the job myself, work out the price, and stay across it from that first visit through to the final walk round.
Most of what I do is interior and exterior repaints for people around Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, Otumoetai, Matua, Bethlehem and Te Puna, and up the coast to Katikati and Waihi Beach. I also work with a few local builders on new builds and renovations, and I’ll take on small commercial jobs where the place wants a careful hand rather than a production line.
How I like to work
I’d rather spend an extra day on preparation than come back in three years to sort out something that’s lifting. So the filling, sanding, sealing and priming all get the time they need before any colour goes near a wall. I’ve got trade accounts with Dulux, Resene and Aalto, which means I can pick the product for the surface it’s going onto instead of whatever happens to be in the van.
Why I keep it close
I take on fewer jobs at once than some outfits do, and now and then that means waiting a little longer for a start date. What you get back is someone who knows exactly what’s happening at your house, because I’m across it rather than running it from a desk. If the finish isn’t right, there’s nobody for me to point at.
What I don’t do
Roofs, fences, decks, pergolas, wallpapering, gib stopping and kitchen cabinets. If what you need isn’t on my list I’ll tell you when you first get in touch, rather than leave you waiting on a quote that was never going to come.

We go round the job together so I can see every surface and hear what you actually want out of it.
You get a price in writing
A fixed price within 24 hours, itemised so you can see what's included and what isn't.
The prep
Washing, filling, sanding and masking. It's the slow part, and it's the part that decides how long the finish lasts.
Paint, then a walk round
Two coats of Dulux, Resene or Aalto, then we go through it together before I load the van.
