Working in Tauranga

Most of my work is inside Tauranga itself. Otumoetai, Matua and Bellevue are minutes from me, Bethlehem and Greerton about ten, and Pyes Pa, Tauriko and Welcome Bay not much more than that. None of it carries a travel charge.

The houses around Tauranga

Along the harbour side, in Otumoetai, Matua and Bellevue, it’s mostly family homes built between the 1960s and the 1980s: brick and tile with timber joinery, weatherboard bungalows, and the occasional 1990s plaster house on the water’s edge. The brick ones tend to need their fascia, soffits, window frames and doors redone every decade or so, and the interiors from that era carry textured ceilings and dark trim that a repaint transforms. Out through Bethlehem, Pyes Pa and Tauriko the houses are newer, plaster and sheet cladding on bigger sections, so there’s more exterior work that way.

Work I’ve done around town

The grey bedroom in the photo is on Darraghs Road in Otumoetai, a few streets from me. I’ve done a master bedroom on Otumoetai Road, a bathroom repaint over in Greerton, a colour change across the main face of a new build in Brookfield, and a green painted arch in town that came out better than I’d pictured it, plus interiors for people who have since had me back a second and a third time.

Common questions

How soon could you come out and quote it?

Usually within a few days of you getting in touch. Anywhere in Tauranga is close enough that I can fit a look-round into the end of a working day, so you're not waiting a fortnight just to find out what it costs.

Do you paint the older brick homes around here?

All the time. On a brick house it's the fascia, soffits, window frames and doors that need redoing every decade or so rather than the walls, and that's a much smaller job than people expect. The interiors from that era are where the real transformation is.

Can I start with just one room?

Of course, and a lot of people around here do exactly that. You get to see how I work and whether you like the finish before committing to the rest of the house. A fair few of my repeat jobs started as somebody's lounge.
